Anticipated Social Media Wellness Trends of 2026: Top 6
The new year is ushering in new aspirations, motivations, and interests from those in the wellness community. I have spent the past few days on social media platforms checking out common themes and conversations trending in the wellness spaces. I’ve noticed some new topics and interests growing in popularity. Let's review them.
1. The Rise of Threads
This summer, Threads will turn three years old. Although it’s been around for some time, its traction has been slow, as users felt a sense of loyalty to Twitter now X, or lost interest in writing and text-based social media with the rise of TikTok and Reels. As users look for a new outlet and prefer the ease of connecting through text posts, Threads have grown in appeal. Threads is becoming a huge platform for many spaces, including the wellness sector. Those interested in improving their well-being are finding Threads to be a great way to connect with others with similar interests.
2. Building Community
Community is a popular topic as people aim to put themselves out there in 2026 and discover ways to build connections and make friends. It’s clear millennials and Gen Z’ers are seeing a need to rebuild human connection. And with social media often blamed for growing disconnect and relationship challenges, maybe there is a way to strengthen bonds and networking through it.
The wellness space is becoming a hub for those seeking groups that support their well-being, such as yoga classes, fitness groups, and meditation circles. Up-and-coming wellness bloggers and coaches like me are finding their desired niches and audiences, helping create healthy online spaces.
3. The People Like Pottery
Pottery is gaining popularity as a new hobby for many. This shows a rising need for creative and artistic influences, as well as a growing community of future ceramicists. With the arts being a great way to nurture your wellness journey, pottery can be a great addition.
I expect to see an influx of bowls, plates, and mugs posted in the upcoming months. If you find yourself a part of this growing group, feel free to share your journey.
4. Are the Vegans Back?
In 2019 and 2020, plant-based TikTokers and influencers were on the rise. Many at the time were responding to the internet's curiosity in meat-free meals, causing plant-based meals and substitutions to trend. However, the trend died down. Now, in 2026, there's a growing number of users again interested in removing meat from their diets. Will we have another vegan resurgence?
If you are among those who will keep meat in your diet, there are still a lot of content creators sharing healthy meals.
5. Rise of Plant Parenthood
Plants are popular on another sector of the internet, but not as food. Plant influencing and content creation have peaked in the last few years, with many learning how to garden. Plant babies have also become a standard part of the modern home, adding to both aesthetics and wellness culture.
Many have begun the year with new plant babies, and it's not too late for you to join them. If there is a trend worth the hype, it's this one. Adding more plants to our personal spaces is allowing us to connect with our roots, literally. There's so much culture and rich history to learn through plants.
6. Cool People Read Books
Let the book clubs begin. Many are getting into reading to expand their minds, knowledge, and cultural horizons. Whether you prefer digital books or physical versions, you can find other readers to share your interests with. Find readers that like the same genres as you do and join their community.
Books were the original influencers before social media, so it's only right for them to have a respected hub in the digital arena. Join the growing number of us who are setting reading goals for 2026. My personal goal is to read a book a month.
